Elderly Care


E
lderly care workers are trained as home based care workers, with a relevant training qualification & a minimum of 6 months work experience, which will usually include a supervised practical at a recognised institution!

There are a number of different ways to qualify to be a Care Worker, which include ENA's (Enrolled Nursing Assistants / Auxiliary Nurses), Pre Nurses (Ancillary) & Home Based Care or Lay Health Workers.

They are trained to assist the elderly or frail with duties such as:

  • bed baths,
  • mobility & bathroom assistance,
  • circulation stimulation
  • treating bedsores
  • companionship
  • preparing meals & feeding the patient
  • general tidying of the home
  • reminding & giving of medication
  • Monitoring of vital signs


They are trained to assist those in need in a professional & caring manner, making life easier!

ENA's can also fulfil a Home Nurse position, providing basic care for out patients.

Private rates can range from around R2,750.00 - R4,500.00 per month, all depending on the amount of days
& the hours worked per week. Rates are determined by the Care Worker's qualification & experience levels.

Please note that SA Nanny does not have a Medical Aid Practice number, in case you want to claim from your medical aid. Our customers are responsible for their account & we unfortunately take no responsibility for any medical aid claims.
